  • December 17-18, 2011
  • St. Louis, MO

Pre-registration ends... see you at the con!

Pre-registration for Bishie Con is now closed, but you can still register at the door for $25. We still have a few brunch tickets which will be available at registration.

See you there!

Schedule Online!

At last, the schedule for Bishie Con is available. We've added a few more hours than we had originally planned (an extra two at the beginning and an extra one late at night).

Download it on the Schedule Page!

The convention has been planned so that those coming in from out of town don't have to miss a regular work week to attend everything, but if you are going to be in town longer than the convention length, there's a ton to do! The science center has the Star Trek exhibit right now. The City Museum is always awesome. You can take great cosplay pictures at the Museum of Transportation or Laumeier Sculpture Park. Enjoy your stay with us!

Guest Announcements! Emirain (writers of Teahouse), Warky T. Chocobo, and Gorgeous Phineas: Strip Magician!

Sorry to have kept you waiting so long! Bishie Con is FINALLY announcing its guests for 2011. Back by popular demand from 2010 is singer Warky T. Chocobo who will be performing more yaoi Christmas songs and other parodies. Our new guests for 2011 are Emirain, the lovely writers of the webcomic Teahouse, and Gorgeous Phineas: Strip Magician, baring his body in a Saturday evening magic show.

Find out more about our guests on the Guests Page!

First ever Bishie Con art show!

Have artwork to show or sell but don't have the money for an artists' alley table? Never fear! We have your solution!

Registration for Bishie Con Cabaret is now open!

We are very sorry for the wait! Bishie Con Cabaret, while shorter than Bishie Con has been the past two years, will still have tons of amazing events and panels.

Because of the shortened format, the badges are half the price of past Bishie Cons (unless you get a badge for the Sunday brunch).

We have two types of badges available - regular badges and Sunday brunch badges. The brunch badges are $15 more and include an exclusive brunch at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday with the guests that Bishie Con books for 2011 (at least one yaoi artist and another guest which will be announced in October and November).

Sunday brunch badges will be available for only $25 at our table at Archon (Sept. 30-Oct. 2 in Collinsville, IL). Visit our table to find out more!

Register on our Registration Page!

Bishie Con Announces Bishie Con Cabaret 2011!

Bishie Con 2010 was such an amazing event that we just couldn't go through with our plan to stop having Bishie Con after this year. Though we do not have the time resources to host an entire Bishie Con in 2011, we will be offering an event for yaoi and slash fans ages 18 and up.

Bishie Con Cabaret will be a 12-hour event on a Saturday in mid-December. Starting at 3:00 in the afternoon, Bishie Con Cabaret will have stage events (karaoke, improv, game shows, etc.), limited panel programming, and a vendor room open into the night. We will hold the event in a hotel and serve snacks throughout it just like we did at Bishie Con the past two years.

More information on the date and location are coming soon! We hope you will grace us with your presence at this Bishie Con event!

Thank you for a wonderful weekend!

Bishie Con this year was nothing short of amazing! You were such a wonderful crowd that even the staff didn't want to leave.

Every event was full of excited, eager fans ready to have fun, and we hope no one was disappointed.

We weren't sure Bishie Con would be able to happen at all this year, but it went off beautifully with so many memories. Let's do it again next year!

Check back to our site and our facebook page regularly for updates on Bishie Con 2011 and other events our staff is running such as Kawa Kon and 24 Hours of Potter.

Thanks again, and happy new year!

- Katrina & Mikhail Lynn, Con Chairs

More information to come.

Propaganda Poster Contest!

Loose lips sink ships, right? Bishie Con is running a contest this year to find a new propaganda specialist - I mean, artist to design a propaganda poster for us. What are we looking for? A catchy slogan telling people either something about yaoi or why they want to go to Bishie Con (make it PG please; innuendo is great!) and visuals to support it.

Don't know what a propaganda poster looks like? Here are some examples of real ones to get you started.

You have until August 20 at 11:59 pm to complete your poster and turn it in via email to katrina@bishiecon.com. Posters should be vertical 8"x12" and 300 dpi. They should be turned in as .jpg files. The winner will receive a FREE Bishie Con 2010 weekend badge and a FREE wall poster of his or her artwork! Do not use copywritten artwork in your poster. You may use photographs or stock images as long as they are PUBLIC DOMAIN or your own work.

Event list updated!

Several new events have been added, including the return of Yaoi Checkers, a karaoke contest, and our brand new Quidditch World Cup. We've also opened pre-registration for My Big Fat Gay Wedding. Find out more on the Panels and Events page.

Cool New Look! New Events Announced!

Our website has changed a bit, at least in looks, but the navigation is all the same as last year. Look around. There's some new stuff and a ton of new events added to the Panels and Events Page, including returning favorites and some unique events for 2010.

You'll also notice that we changed the heading to "The Midwest's Yaoi and Slash Convention" from "The Midwest's Yaoi and Boys' Love Convention". That was for two reasons. The first is that most yaoi fans in the U.S. use "yaoi", "shounen-ai", and "Boys' Love" interchangeably. The other is that we wanted to put right up front that this isn't an anime-only convention. Our staff is made up of a diverse group of yaoi and slash fans who don't all watch anime or read manga. Many of us have found our BL fix in romantic novels (such as those Dreamspinner Press had at the convention last year), video games, American TV shows, British fantasy novels, and more.

Our events and panels reflect that, so we figured out tagline should as well. Also, let's not be COMPLETELY exclusive to male/male stuff (even though that is the focus of the con). Some of us also like femslash. ;)

Theme for 2010 - Destination: Bishie Con, Yaoi Around the World!

We'll be celebrating yaoi and slash both in Japan and all over the rest of the world as well as the country-slash awesomeness that is Axis Powers Hetalia. Enjoy yaoi "war games", a Hetalia Host Party with global flair, and tons of other events both returning and new!

Wait for a new look coming to our website soon!

Online Pre-Registration Open!

You waited for it, and now it's here! Online registration is open on the Registration Page. If you have a PayPal account, you can order your badge simply online.

Want to be a dealer, artist, volunteer, or panelist? Information is coming on registration for all of those. It should be up by the end of March.

OMG! Dates for 2010!

Thank you all for waiting patiently while we figured out if we'd be able to run Bishie Con in 2010.

I am pleased to announce our dates and location for 2010...

*drumroll*

December 17-19 at the Crowne Plaza Clayton!

Yes, it's close to Christmas, but never fear! The prices are dropping in 2010, so it should fit into your holiday budget.

Queen bed hotel rooms are only $79, and you'll be able to start booking them right now by calling (314) 726-5400 and asking for a room in the Bishie Con block!

A new look for the site and online pre-registration will be available shortly after Kawa Kon.

Thank you, fabulous fans!

I can't even begin to tell you how fabulous this past weekend was! I'd say it's probably the most fun weekend I've had this year and definitely on the list of most fun weekends I've EVER had. You all made it wonderful.

Now that our guests are leaving for their respective states and countries, and our house is full of boxes of convention supplies, I know that it's all over.

BUT... the good news is that your enthusiasm and support has made it a distinct possibility that we will have another Bishie Con in 2010.

Feel free to look back over the 2009 information still up on the site. We'll take it down over the next couple of months and replace it with information about future Bishie Cons.

If you want more and can't wait for announcements about next year's convention, why don't you check out Kawa Kon, our anime convention? Also, you might be interested in the new convention that we announced at Bishie Con: Ecto Con, the world's first Ghostbusters convention!

Now I just want to leave you with a simple "thanks" to everyone who attended, staffed, and volunteered at Bishie Con.
